Despite the growing body of research on translation competence, there remains a significant gap in how trainees perceive and internalize these skills. Adopting a quantitative approach, data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 100 English translation trainees at universities in Iran. The central problem addressed in this research is the lack of self-awareness among translation trainees concerning fundamental translation competences—an obstacle that may hinder their development into professional and effective translators. The primary objective is to assess the trainees’ self-awareness and identify specific challenges related to their competences. The findings reveal considerable weaknesses, particularly in strategic and extralinguistic competences. These results highlight the need to revise and enhance translation curricula to effectively integrate the PACTE model and strengthen the metacognitive aspects of translator training. Ultimately, the study emphasizes the critical role of self-awareness in fostering translation competence. Future research should explore the application of the PACTE model in diverse cultural contexts and examine the impact of targeted pedagogical interventions on translation quality. این پژوهش میزان خودآگاهی کارآموزان ترجمه­ ی ایرانی را نسبت به زیرتوانش‌های مدل پکته (فرایند کسب توانش ترجمه و ارزیابی) مورد بررسی قرار می‌دهد. با وجود تحقیقات موجود در زمینه توانش ترجمه، همچنان شکاف‌هایی در درک و درونی‌سازی این توانش­ها توسط کارآموزان وجود دارد. با استفاده از یک رویکرد کمّی، داده‌ها از طریق یک پرسشنامه ساختاریافته از ۱۰۰ کارآموز ترجمه زبان انگلیسی در دانشگاه‌های ایران جمع‌آوری شد. مسئله‌ی این پژوهش، کمبود خودآگاهی در میان کارآموزان ترجمه نسبت به توانش‌های اساسی ترجمه است که این آگاهی کم می‌تواند مانعی جدی در مسیر پیشرفت آن‌ها به‌عنوان مترجمان حرفه‌ای و کارآمد باشد. هدف این پژوهش، ارزیابی میزان خودآگاهی کارآموزان ترجمه و شناسایی چالش‌های خاص در توانش‌های آن‌ها است. نتایج نشان می‌دهد که کارآموزان، به‌ویژه در توانش‌های فرازبانی و راهبردی، با ضعف‌های قابل‌توجهی روبه‌رو هستند. یافته‌ها بر ضرورت بازنگری و بهبود برنامه‌های درسی تأکید دارند تا مدل پکته به‌طور مؤثر در آموزش ترجمه ادغام شده و جنبه‌های فراشناختی مترجمان تقویت شود. در نهایت، این تحقیق بر نقش اساسی خودآگاهی درتقویت توانش ترجمه تأکید می‌کند. مطالعات آینده باید به بررسی کاربرد مدل پکته در زمینه‌های فرهنگی متنوع پرداخته و تأثیر برنامه‌های آموزشی هدفمند را بر کیفیت ترجمه ارزیابی کنند.
