Indonesian Teachers’ Perceptions About the Potential of Technology- Enhanced Language Assessment (TELA)

Technology-enhanced language assessment (TELA) has significantly transformed the landscape of language evaluation by integrating a wide range of digital tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility. This study aims to investigate the role and impact of TELA in modern language assessment, focusing on its advantages, challenges, and implications for both pre-service teachers and language learners. A mixed-method design was employed, combining quantitative data from closed-ended questionnaires with qualitative insights from open-ended responses to ensure a comprehensive analysis. The findings highlight major developments in TELA, including the growing use of artificial intelligence, automated scoring systems, and adaptive online testing platforms. While TELA offers personalized learning experiences and immediate feedback that enhance engagement and learning outcomes, concerns related to digital equity, validity, reliability, and ethical use persist. Also, the study concludes that a balanced and well-regulated approach is crucial to ensure the pedagogical effectiveness and ethical integrity of TELA in language education.
