Grammaticalization may occur in any language. In the Persian language, different language categories, such as verbs had been grammaticalized. This article analyzes the grammaticalized forms of the Persian verb “Amadan”. The corpus used in this paper is the corpus of Academy of Persian Language and Literature, Dadegan corpus. In some cases, we utilized the Dehkhoda dictionary, Soxan dictionary, and the Persian folk dictionary of Abolhasan Najafi (1387). For the research method, we first searched the corpus for the lexical and grammaticalized forms of “Amadan”. Afterward, the lexical forms were separated from the grammaticalized ones. Then we specified new functions of grammaticalized items. Subsequently, we found and detected the examples of grammaticalized forms of “Amadan” in the corpus. Next, different evolutions of grammaticalized forms were analyzed, including new grammaticalized functions and semantic shifts of each grammaticalized word, and the grammatical roles of each form on the grammaticalization diagram of Hopper and Traugott (2003). The results of this research proved that grammaticalized forms of “Amadan” accepted new grammaticalized functions, including auxiliation, optative mood, and inchoative aspect.
